Considering patterns in everyday life, thoughts were drawn towards the impact of smartphones over the past 10-15 years and how they can be distracting to some of life’s ever-present beautiful wonders. An extensive survey showed that many observed how parents would rather be on their phones at events involving their children. These choices also presented some significant health issues as well as the obvious social considerations. In response, this series of posters were created to highlight the issue.

​Using mixed media, two series of four posters were created. One series depicts significant childhood events that are blocked out or missed due to the parent looking at insignificant notifications on their phone. The other series is portrayed as slightly more powerful. Some examples include the child trying to get through the window inside the phone for some parental attention, and the other is a set of steps in which a child gives up trying to climb to the top to become the priority.
